Don’t Be Afraid To Show Your Process
Client: Sue Gray Art
Service: Brand Photos
I’ve always been fascinated by seeing the process and journey behind an artist’s work. As a creative myself, watching these videos motivates and inspires me to improve my craft.
Sue Grey, an artist from South Africa now living in Singapore, creates life-sized paintings of Singapore's favorite bottle designs. She finds joy and purpose in capturing these iconic images on canvas.
Recently, Sue hired me to take lifestyle photos for her brand. Along with that, I created a video showcasing her creative process. The truth is, your audience wants to be part of your journey—they want to support your work and build a connection with you.
Think of it as a movement: rather than just buying your product or service, customers can feel proud to be part of your creative process, which makes the experience more meaningful.
For example, when buyers see how a painting is created from start to finish, they’ll feel a sense of pride owning the finished piece. Instead of just buying another artwork, they’re now part of the artist's journey. Plus, this kind of insight can help you justify higher prices for your work because buyers can see the effort involved in creating each piece.
If you’re selling products, make sure to document your process. You don’t need expensive cameras—your smartphone will do just fine.
The key is to find a simple, consistent way to share your process with your audience.
