Never Give Up on What You Believe in (The 84 Candle Rule)

Melinda Olah is the founder, creator, and designer of The Candleist, a line of hand-poured candles. Her love for candle-making has taught her valuable life lessons about self-improvement, motivation, and never giving up on her dreams. After failing to create many candles, she has successfully started her business today.

In this film, we get behind the scenes and witness how Melinda creates some of her top-selling candles. In addition, the story she tells about her passion and love for candle-making connects with me. As a creative myself, despite loving what I do, I feel that having a mindset that can positively drive us forward regardless of our failures or successes is essential.

The “84-candle rule” she spoke about resonated with me.

When I started as a video creator and photographer, a friend told me about the “10,000 hours rule”, similar to Melinda’s case. I know it may sound scary: “What? I need 10,000 hours of practice before I can see a huge change or improvement in myself?” Honestly, I started photography and videography recently, maybe about five years to be exact, and I might not be close to having 10,000 hours worth of practice. But, it would make sense if we look at these practices from another perspective.

Think of it as a journey and not literally practising for 10,000 hours.

Along the way, our journey is the thing that shapes us into who we are today.

Everything we do, the process and the journey, is vital to learn from.

This was what he meant.
Not burying my head and filming for 10,000 hours, literally.
Haha!

Remember, friends, your journey and your process to becoming who you set out to triumph over the results. Please pay attention to the little things you encounter during your trip because they might open up new opportunities and choices.
